Simon Ackermann started his business in 1896 founding a clothing company to combine the sartorial process together with a serial production.
His son, Myron Ackermann, along with his brother Raymond, carried on the strong inheritance of their father founding the Chester Barrie in England and the d’Avenza Fashion in 1957 in Carrara, Italy.
D’Avenza was created from the former company Abital that Ackerman bought at the symbolic value of 1usd, on condition that he could continue to give work to more than five hundred persons in the town of Carrara.
Simon Ackerman was the first one who imported the sewing machines for the serial production directly from New York. All this made d’Avenza a forerunner in the future model of international clothing manufacturing.
The new idea of Myron Ackerman was to combine his experience in the serial production of high quality menswear clothing with the artisanal sartorial tradition to create a product that at the time was distributed at International level in the Us. This explains the skill of d’Avenza in using extra fine quality fabrics.
D’Avenza thus became the perfect connubium of the serial process with the traditional British sartorial process and the Italian handcraftsmanship that together result in an innovative and elegant final garment.
Today, the precious heritance is preserved thanks to the entrepreneur Renato Cecchi, who committed himself in perpetuating the excellence of the brand and of the product at national and international level, also thanks to the tight collaboration and synergy with the highly recognized Rifinizione Santo Stefano, owned by the same proprietor.
