Since the ‘60’s, d’Avenza has been producing a kind of garment that presented a strong sensation of modernity thanks to the great combination of the Us technical skills, the British tradition derived from the mother company Chester Barrie, and the typical Italian creativity.

The result was a refined garment of top quality level, at that time new to the Italian fashion panorama, that soon was able to conquer the new markets.

Thanks to their modern reinterpretation, historical garments, taken from the archives of Chester Barrie and derived from hunting, horse riding and English military apparel, contributed to the success.

ASCOT JACKET
Derived from the hacking jacket, was designed for horse riding and is characterized by a narrow high-waist, a long central back vent and an elegant line. In the ‘60’s, the reinterpreted model was named Ascot Jacket and was presented in Rome, where soon became the new trend resulting in a great success. Ascot Jackets are usually made in tweed fabric.

NORFOLK JACKET
The most recognized as hunting jacket and one of the first garments purposely designed for a sport activity. The Norfolk jacket is characterized by four buttons, a waistband, fabric straps over the shoulders that once had the function to sustain the weight of the cartridges inside the pockets, and armholes to allow a better ventilation and movement. The Norfolk jacket started to be popular after the Duke of Norfolk wore it for the first time in the XVIII century.

BRITISH WARM OVERCOAT
Derived from the typical British warm overcoats, this coat was originally a military coat, as the shoulder pads recall, and was usually made in heavy melton wool in order to be truly warm as the name itself indicates. Among the details, the hacking lapel and leather buttons.

HUSSAR 1965circa
Derived from the official military jackets of the Ussar Army, the Hussar jacket was a model particularly indicated to drive open-deck cars since it used to cover the upper part of the body, especially the collar, and used to be extremely long. The Hussar jacket became in fashion especially in the ‘70’s as a maxi coat better know as ‘Napoleon collar’.
